It was an honour to host our good friend and XEN team rider Ben Currie's Video/Board Premier, at the Ichpig DIY Skatepark over the weekend. With most of Melbourne skateboarding turning up for a pre-screening shred at the park, it was amazing to see so many new hammers go down. It's a testament to Ben, Andrew and Anthony Mapstone (owners of XEN) for the overwhelming turn out. The massive hook up from Young Henrys Brewer definitely helped with the vibe of the night also.
The night wouldn't have happened if not for the backing of OG Heads Andrew and Anthony Mapstone in collaboration with both XEN and Vans. Again this event speaks volumes to the respect they hold within Melbourne skateboarding. Ichpig GM Aj, Andrew and I put in the late night hours in preparation for the event, constructing the massive DIY projection screen from leftover fabric. Come screening, it was dope to see 1 and a half years of Ben's hard work projected up onto a huge screen for all to see.
Also wanted to personally thank my close friend Pierre, owner of Pierres Pizzas in St. Albans for hooking the crew up with an epic selection of his finest pizzas. I don't think I've ever seen 30 pizzas get destroyed quicker. Again so much love to all that came and so keen to see this clip that Tony puts together of the night. Stay tuned for all the carnage that was captured through the lens. Finally thanks to Albert Durbano and Andrew Mapstone for all the epic shots of the event. Definitely a night to remember!
